This work has a story that I moved while living in a multi-family house for 35 years.
A-1 on the left bottom of the picture, which indicates the year, is a structure of the room where I had lived from 1981 to 1990. Total 7 men including my parents, 4 daughters, and grandmother lived in a small single room.
We rented the other rooms for our family reasons. When our family circumstance got better a little, we moved to the next room on the 1st floor which was a little wide. At this time, the number of our family was 6. Afterwards, we built a new house on the 3rd floor like A-3, my older sister lived in an university dormitory while we lived there so total 5 members lived.
Currently, we live in the widest and best house on the 2nd floor although it is as old as A-4. But now 4 children live in each place and only 2 parents live on this wide 2nd floor.
They are raising pretty plants and only red peppers for gimjang in winter are spread on the bottom of the empty living room as if they are a house owner.

이 작품은 내가 35년 동안 한 다가구주택에서 살면서 이사를 다녔던 이야기이다.
그림 왼쪽 맨하단에 년도를 표기한 A-1은 내가 태어난 1981년 해부터 1990년 동안은 살았던 방 구조이다. 작은 단칸방에 부모님과 4명의 딸, 그리고 친할머니까지 총 7명이 살았다. 그리고 나머지는 다른 방은 가정 형편상 세를 주었다. 그러다가 가정형편이 조금 나아져 바로 옆방인 1층의 조금 넒은 방으로 이사를 갔다. 그때에는 식구가 6명이었다. 그 후 A-3처럼 3층에 새로 집을 짓고 그곳에 이사를 갔는데 그곳에 사는 동안 큰언니는 대학교 기숙사에 살게 되어 총 5명의 식구가 살았다. 현재는 A-4처럼 집은 오래되었지만 이 집에서 가장 넓고 좋은 2층 집에 살고 있다. 하지만 이제 4명의 자녀들은 각자의 곳에서 살고 있으며, 부모님 두 분만이 이 넓은 2층 집에 살고 계신다. 보기 좋은 식물들을 키우며, 비어있는 거실과 방에는 겨울철 김장을 위한 빨간 고추들만이 주인인 양 자리를 차지하며 바닥에 널려있다.
