Schematics of Memories
I thought of measuring myself with rulers and creating a self portrait. I sought to express not only the visible part of me but also something invisible like my personality, energy, aura and even my past memories using the objective and almost scientific methods. I used signs and symbols from many different charts and diagrams and the practice evolved up until now. But again, as I mentioned earlier the impetus was to express human emotions and trivial but valuable stories including both the visible and the invisible"

기억의 회로도

인간을 사물과 같이 자로 재듯 도면에 그려 나가면 어떨까요? 나의 몸을 자로 재어 도면에 옮겨가는 것 뿐 만이 아니라, 보이지 않는 자신, 즉 성격, 에너지, 아우라, 추억 등등 비가시적인 것들도 도면처럼 가시적이고 객관화된 기호를 사용하여 표현할 수 있을까요? 여기 걸린 4점의 작품은 작가의 어린 시절의 기억, 가족의 사랑 등 눈에 보이지 않는 것들을 기하학적으로, 수학적으로, 정량적으로 표현하면 어떨까 하는 발상을 시작으로 인간의 내면, 기억, 사랑 등을 도면으로 나타낸 것입니다.

인간을 바라보는 방식은 여러 가지가 있을 수 있습니다. 인간을 구성하는 물질적인 측면과 정신적 측면을 모두 반영하여 시각적, 수학적, 과학적, 건축적 언어를 사용하여 개인의 기억이나 감정이라는 비가시적인 것을 구체화하고 명료화하고자 하는 노력이 담겨있는 작품입니다.
